SEO – Yahoo | Beginning its transition of Organic Search
Yahoo! is beginning its transition of organic search technology to Bing this week, it has been announced.
Following on from the Microsoft Search Alliance agreement, Yahoo!’s organic searches will start to change as part of plans to move them to match Bing’s back-end technology, according to the Yahoo! Search Marketing blog.
Yahoo! has reminded its users that the change should engender an improvement in the organic search results they see.
The search engine comments: “As we’ve stated all along, our primary goal is to provide you with a quality transition experience in 2010, while protecting the holiday season. We continue to make great strides toward this goal and we evaluate our progress every day.”
While the work should be completed by the end of the year, Yahoo! has said that, should the important holiday season necessitate it, the project may not be completed until 2011.
A recent report by IMRG revealed that the number of people on the internet utilising search engines has fallen by 0.5 per cent during the first half of this year.
